Never. There is no login field anywhere. You download your official export from Instagram's Accounts Center and open the ZIP locally — the parsing runs entirely in your browser.
Both work. JSON is recommended because it includes follow timestamps (unlocking momentum, busiest-day and "oldest follow" sorting). HTML exports contain the names only, so date-based views show "no date" until you re-analyze a JSON export.
Parsing happens on-device with JSZip. Snapshots (usernames + counts) are saved to your browser's localStorage so history and forecasts work across visits. Nothing is transmitted. You can delete everything from Profile → Data & privacy.
